FlensburgerMaschinenbau-AnstaltUllrich GmbH & Co KG is a leading manufacturer of asphalt silo plants for the global road construction industry. Its core competencies include the manufacture and turnkey commissioning of new plant systems and plant expansions, the manufacture of various plant components, as well as services in the areas of spare parts, maintenance and inspection.

The successful family business has been in existence since 1955 and is now in its third generation. Our team consists of dedicated and motivated specialists with many years of experience and a high level of expertise. Since the company was founded in 1955, a total of over 1,900 asphalt silo plants have been delivered worldwide. FMA Ullrich has stood for quality, reliability and durability for decades.

Our history

1905

Foundation of the Flensburg mechanical engineering company Johannsen & Sörensen

1924

After the death of co-founder Sörensen, Alfred Johannsen takes on engineer Heinrich Ullrich as a partner. Johannsen leaves the company shortly afterwards. Heinrich Ullrich becomes sole owner. Intensification of the ship repair business, primarily for the navy

1930

Construction of a functional submarine model for nautical training at the Mürwik Naval School, further shift in focus towards the repair of municipal machinery and naval vessels

1936

Commissioning of its own bridge facility for mooring repair ships

1940-1942

Lease of land for the Strandweg branch and keel laying of a new floating dock with a load capacity of 500 tons. A new workshop with boiler plant and compressor room as well as an office building are also ready for operation

1943

British bombers destroy the branch factory at the harbor

1948

Start of construction of machinery for dragee production and installation of plant facilities for new shipbuilding

1950-1954

Construction of 12 ships of various sizes up to 1250 tons deadweight

1952

Heinrich Ullrich dies at the age of 59

1955

Founding of the Flensburger Maschinenbau-Anstalt Ullrich KG by Dipl. Ing. and industrial clerk Peter Ullrich (born 1925) and his sister Lilo Ullrich as limited partners.

1956

Start of production of dosing systems for gravel companies (a total of 64 systems with a filling capacity of eight to 600 tons built by 1964)

1957

First production of an asphalt silo plant with automatic feeding (around 1600 plants of various types and sizes are built by 2000), with a German market share of over 70% and an export quota of also more than 70%.

1969

the company's new-build program starts with the acquisition of a plot of around 30,000m² on Max-Planck-Straße/Eckernförder Landstr.

1972

Commissioning of production (with direct rail connection to the rail network) in the new company premises; administration and partial production initially remain in Neustadt/Werftstrasse

1983

Change of name to GmbH & Co KG

1989

Expansion of the hall area and modernization of the machinery

1990

Start of delivery of rolled asphalt silo plants to the new federal states, East German steel construction companies have also been working for the FMA since then (up to 1993 alone, around 100 rolled asphalt silo plants are delivered to the new federal states; the total number of silo plants delivered since 1957 has increased to around 1300)

1992

Further expansion of the hall area, enlargement of the machinery and the spraying halls

1998

Company founder and owner Peter Ullrich retires from management at the age of 73; the new managing directors are business economist Heinrich Ullrich (born 1956) and graduate engineer Günter Placzek (born 1943)

1999

Inauguration of the new administration building after relocation of the offices from Nordertor to Max-Planck-Straße

2003

Managing Director Dipl.-Ing. Günter Placzek (born 1943) passes away on May 26.

2004

Appointment of Dipl.-Ing. Guido Liebherr as authorized signatory.

2008

Appointment of Ms. Karen Würdemann as authorized signatory.

2011

Introduction of the "Systematic Safety" occupational health and safety management system and receipt of the NFL / ILO-OSH 2001 seal of approval

2016

Appointment of Dipl.-Ing. Guido Liebherr as a further Managing Director.

2022

Christopher Ullrich is appointed as an additional managing director.
